Rishikesh, India

Rishikesh is a place situated in the foothills of the Garhwal Himalayas, in Dehradun district in the northern state of Uttarakhand in India. It is a place famous for the temples and ashrams, situated at an altitude of 1,360 ft a.s.l.It is a place where Lord Vishnu crushed demon Madhu.Rishikesh is surrounded by three districts: Tehri Garhwal, Pauri Garhwal and Haridwar. It is approximately 25 km north of the city Haridwar and 43 km southeast of the state capital Dehradun.It is a beginning point for the Chardham Yatra (covering Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri).It is a perfect tourists destination for the pilgrimage travel and adventure sports.It is situated at the distance of 27 Kms from Haridwar and open through out the year.

River Rafting

Lakshmanan Jhula

Lakshman Jhula is actually a suspended bridge, bulit in the 1929 and it is the major tourists attraction of the Rishikesh.It is said that Lakshmana the Rama's brother crossed the river here with the help of a jute rope. You can also see the natural beauty and the panoramic views of the surroundings.


Bharat Mandir

Bharat Mandir has bulit around 8th century AD. by the Adiguru Shankaracharya.It is from one of the famous temple of the Rishikesh and takes a position on the banks of the Holy Ganges.An idol of Lord Vishnu stands in the inner sanctum of the temple. You can also see the small Museums also inside the temple.Bharat Mandir Temple is inside the Rishikesh Market area and can be reached easily from Chandrabhaga Bridge.

Triveni Ghat

Triveni Ghat is situated near the main market and it is the biggest ghat of the Rishikesh.The reason for the name is it is believed that this is conference of 03 rivers Ganges, Yamuna and legendary Saraswati.It is a great place to take the holy bath and it is also a beautiful place to see the Ganges ceremony (Ganga Aarti) is organized at ghat in evening.Hundreds of people visited to the ghat to attend the Arti and the various diyas afloat the River Ganges add much to the sight.

Ram Jhula

Another suspension bridge like Lakshman Jhula is the Ram Jhula or Sivananda Jhula.The bridge serves as the connection between the Shivanand Ashram and Swarg Ashram. It is dedicated to Lord Rama.Boats are available to cross the bridge, shops are also available for the shopping. Sivananda Ashram, Yog Niketan Ashram and Omkarnanda Ashram is located at one end of the brindge.
